Description for The Beautiful Ashes

January 21, 2014 by Jeaniene 18 Comments

With the end of Cat and Bones’s storyline almost here, readers have been asking me, “What’s next?” Well, a few things. Vlad and Leila will get their third novel, of course, but I don’t have a title or release date yet. As soon as I do, I’ll share it with you. Another Night Huntress World character will get a book, and before Ian fans flood the comment section, it’s a “maybe” as to whether it will feature him :). And, as many of you know, I have a new, New Adult (meaning the protagonists are college-aged) paranormal romance series releasing this fall. It’s called The Beautiful Ashes, and it’s book one in the Broken Destiny series. You may have heard me mention it under the old series title of Realmwalker, but as you can see, the series title has changed. The description released on a couple retail sites in December, but because of being buried under deadline as well as release stuff for Up From The Grave, I hadn’t posted it on my website yet. Well, wait no more, because here it is:

In a world of shadows, anything is possible. Except escaping your fate.

Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been gripped by visions of strange realms just beyond her own. But when her sister goes missing, Ivy discovers the truth is far worse—her hallucinations are real, and her sister is trapped in a parallel realm. The one person who believes her is the dangerously attractive guy who’s bound by an ancient legacy to betray her.

Adrian might have turned his back on those who raised him, but that doesn’t mean he can change his fate…no matter how strong a pull he feels toward Ivy. Together they search for the powerful relic that can save her sister, but Adrian knows what Ivy doesn’t: that every step brings Ivy closer to the truth about her own destiny, and a war that could doom the world. Sooner or later, it will be Ivy on one side, Adrian on the other, and nothing but ashes in between…

As I mentioned above, while it’s NA, this is a paranormal romance series because, well, I can’t seem to write anything else :). No vampires in this book, but I’m showcasing my version of demons, angels (called Archons) and minions, as well as the clash of two famous historical lines. I’m so excited about The Beautiful Ashes because Adrian and Ivy’s story has been percolating in my mind since 2007. Yes, sometimes authors have to wait that long to share their stories with readers. The Beautiful Ashes is releasing in trade paperback (and ebook and audio, of course) on August 26th. If you’re interested, here are some pre-order links: Amazon, BooksAMillion, Powells (more retailers coming soon).

And now, I need to get back to finishing it. Hope you’re having a lovely week, everyone!

I am excited to see what this new series holds. I typically shy away from YA novels but this new category NA seems like it might be a nice middle ground between YA and Adult. I love that your characters name is Ivy. That is my daughters name. It was not a common name when I chose it 12 years ago but now there are quite a few books with that name as a principle character. Cant wait to read your new books!

I think the final Vlad and Leila book should be titled thrice bound, they and married by human law, have a sire and childe bond. And might be married by vampire law? 3 bonds? Lol
I love cat and bones and I really really love Vlad and Leila I have both books on audio and often replay them again and again if I’m stuck with nothing to do or I’m at work.. Haha 🙂

Snowgirl, you know how I feel about romancey stuff. That’s why I’m looking forward to Your new series. I have had a couple of obstacles placed in front of me but I am still heading out to see you Wednesday. I’m so excited. Oh there may be a snow storm tossed in just for the heck of it.

I’ve read up to chapter 5 of “Up From the Grave” and loving it.

I re-listened to the whole series in preparation for “Up from the Grave,” and I was reminded of how much I adore the whole world that you created! I thought you gave Cat and Bones a wonderful conclusion to their story, (though I’m hoping for some additional peeks into their lives in Vlad and Leila’s final book, as well as whatever else you have planned!) I’m torn between whether I would rather read about a happy ending for Ian or Tate. I don’t suppose you could just write two more books? 🙂 And of course it wouldn’t hurt for poor Annette to finally find someone to love her… Thank you for writing!
