It’s out!

February 10, 2010 by Jeaniene 26 Comments

I’m very excited to announce that FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON, book one in the Night Huntress World novels, is now available. As many of you know, this story features Cat and Bones’s closest friends, Spade and Denise, as the main characters. Here is the description from the back of the book:

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Night Huntress series comes a breathtaking new journey to the dark side of desire…

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows – her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield – and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness – and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human – even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together…

Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.

FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON was an amazing story to write and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do. To read the first 20% and watch the book trailer, please go here.

Thank you so much, readers, for allowing me to share my characters and stories with you. Happy reading!

LOVED this book. I would love to see Ian in the future with a book just for him. I imagine he could sweep some wonderful insecure woman off of her feet.

I loved this book, I kind of wish I’d read it more slowly though! I am very excited for Mencheres’s story and agree with susan that a book for Ian would be excellent!

I just finished FDOC and I loved it. Although I have to agree with Mindy, Cat and Bones are more romantic. I can’t wait until the next spin off. I know the next spin off is with Mencheres and I’m very excited for that because he seems so sad. However I would like to see Ian fall in love and with Justina that would make a great book.

Dear Jeaniene, my cousin was absolutely amazed by FDoC. I think after I read your Cat&Bones book, I’ll just must read it, and Eternal kiss of Darkness, of course, when it comes out. I loved those, so I’m pretty sure I’ll love your other books as well.
So, now I have to wait for my mail to come because my cousin is sending me her copy, ’cause God only knows when will it be available in my country. So far, only two of your books are available her, but this sending process has so far proven okay but it would be much, much better if I could buy the books by myself instantly. Grrr..

    hey jeaniene,

I loved Spades POV, especially because its the first time you see from the perspective of a vampire (well, ok, male vampire =)) I enjoyed it a lot! When starting to read I thought Id miss Cat and her humor of seeing things but Denise is so special herself it didnt even bother me though. Great story!
Do you know if you come back to Cat&Bones story in the 7th novel or will there be another side character? I think too, Ian would be a lot of fun to read! haha.

    regards, keep writing,
    Janine

    Hey Jeaniene,
i just have to write it down….
I’m from Germany and i’ve never read a book in english.
But when i finished “halfway to the grave” in german, i couldn’t wait for the others to come out in the german language, so there was no way i could wait for them, i ordered them all in english by amazon. Those were the first books i’ve ever read in english and i wasn’t sure that i would get it all, but i did. Cat an Bones made me crave for so much more, and here i am, read Spade and Denis and it was amazing, loved every single page. I think also, that Ian would make a great book by himself, but i am more curious about Vlad. He was most in the backround, but i think he shouldn’t stand there by long. I loved your books. Thank you very very much.
    Go ahead.

I am a huge fan of your Cat and Bones series! When I saw the new book in the store I couldn’t wait to get home to read it! It was amazing! I was up all night reading it because I could not put it down! I love that we finally were able to get more than a glimpse into Spades life.
I am dying to read the next book in both series! 🙂

Wonderful story! I always loved Spade and wondered about him. Very suspenseful and I like how we were able to see what happens with them at the end of the story instead of stopping right when the problem is resolved. I also love that Bones, Cat , Ian and the others stay in the story. I’m very attached to your characters and any chance to visit with them again is very special! Can’t wait for your next book! Thanks!

BTW, am really loving the guy on the cover of this book. He’s smoldering!!! And the girl is also very beautiful. Any trivia or info these guys? Do you get to meet them personally and involved choosing them? Just curious.
