Special charity auction

May 25, 2011 by Jeaniene Frost 26 Comments

Hi everyone. I’m sure most of you have heard about the recent devastating tornados in KS, MO, OK, AK, and AL. Those were on the heels of the massive floods along areas of the Mississippi River. I’m not trying to be depressing, but there are a lot of people who need help due to these natural disasters.

.

With that in mind, I’m holding a charity auction to benefit The Red Cross Disaster Relief fund . Here is the bundle up for grabs:

.
A signed Arc (advance reading copy) of ONE GRAVE AT A TIME, Night Huntress series book six.
.
A signed copy of  MAGIC SLAYS, Kate Daniels series book five, by author Ilona Andrews.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.A signed copy of THE IRON DUKE, The Iron Seas series, book one, by author Meljean Brook.
.
.
.

.

All three books will go to the person with the highest bid. I will pay the shipping costs and send the books wherever in the world the winner lives *. Furthermore, the winning bid will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $500.00, so that even more money will go to the Red Cross (I’d be shocked if the bids went that high, but since this is for charity, I’m hoping the bids will go above the regular cost of the books).

.

And now, here are the rules for the auction. READ THESE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BID because if you do not follow these rules exactly, your bid will not be counted.

.
1. ONLY leave bids on my website blog (https://jeanienefrost.com/2011/05/special-charity-auction-2/ ) If your bid is anywhere else, it will not count.
.
2. Do not reply to anyone else’s bid with a new bid. Each bid must be its own new comment on the blog.
.
3. The first bid must start at a minimum of $20.00. After that, bids can be in $1 increments or whatever increment the bidder prefers (example: $21, $25, $34, etc).
.
4. Be sure to leave your name with your bid so there’s no confusion as to who bid what.
.
5. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the auction.
.
6. The auction opens now and will end on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 at 11:59pm EST.
.
7. The auction is open to international participants, and as stated, I will ship the books wherever the winner lives, but  * the bids and donations must be made in US dollars (USD) to the Red Cross Disaster fund.
.
8. The winning bid will be the HIGHEST POSTED bid at 11:59pm EST on May 31st. If there are duplicate bids of the exact same highest amount posted at the same time, the first one will be chosen (Example: If the highest bid is $100.00 and three entries for exactly $100.00 are all time stamped at 11:59pm the evening the auction closes, then the first person who bid $100.00 will win the auction).
.
9. The day after the auction has ended, I will post the name of the winning bidder. The winner must donate the amount of the winning bid to The Red Cross Disaster Relief fund and send me a copy of the receipt within 48 hours from when I announce the winner. If the winner fails to do so after 48 hours, the next highest bidder becomes the winner (and so on, if necessary).
.
ETA: Bids have no more value than the exact amount posted. Any mention of a third party “matching” a bid will not affect the bid price for this auction (Example: A bid of $100.00 with a comment that it is being matched by a friend/family member/company is still only a bid for $100.00). If parties want to split the cost of a bid between each other, I have nothing to do with that, but each bid stands on its own in the dollar amount posted.

.

Once I have the donation confirmation, the winner’s books will be sent out within three business days.

.

If you have questions about the auction, please email me at frostlight1 AT yahoo DOT com. Do not leave your questions in the comments. The comment section is for auction bids only.

.

As a side note, this won’t be the only chance to get a copy of One Grave at a Time before it releases on August 30th. I will have a contest for Arcs on my blog and fan site as usual. However, I won’t be holding those contests for at least a month, so the auction will be your earliest chance to read Cat and Bones’s next book.

.

Please link or Tweet this post to spread the word. Let’s get as much money raised as we can to help those suffering from these disasters!

Thank you so much.

.

I was going to make a donation this week anyway, so a chance for great books for something I planned to do would be great.

Audrey, I’m taking “my company will match it” as a comment about how your company is kicking in their own separate donation to The Red Cross, but it can’t count toward your bid amount of $275.00. Each bid has to stand on its own.

      Thanks!
