RT, here I come

April 29, 2013 by Jeaniene Frost 5 Comments

I’m leaving tomorrow for the Romantic Times convention in Kansas City, Missouri. If you’re also attending and you’d like to say hi, get some swag, or trip me as I walk past (heh), here’s where you can find me:

Wednesday, May 1st

3:45 – 4:45pm

(Craft) Shifters, Weres, Vamps and Fae: Find out why urban fantasy and paranormal romance authors love writing nonhuman heroines and heroes. From revisiting old legends to creating new species, how do authors make their creatures both beloved and identifiable? Unlock some insider secrets about the authors’ favorite characters, and — for aspiring authors — tricks and tips on how to effectively make your supernatural beings all-too real.

Moderator: Andria Holley. Panelists: Jennifer L. Armentrout, Alyssa Day, Jeaniene Frost and Yasmine Galenorn.

Location: Ballroom Level. Room:  Chicago A

5:00pm – 6:00pm

(Vampire) Blood Lite: Humor can make the best of any bad situation, and being undead is no laughing matter — or is it? Come share a chuckle as bestselling vampire fiction authors discuss why humor is the best protection against the darkness of the undead.

Captain: Caridad Pinerio. Panelists: Cat Adams (C.T. Adams), Jeaniene Frost, Susan and Clay Griffith, Molly Harper, Jeri-Smith Ready and Elisabeth Staab.

Location: Mezzanine Level; Room: Empire A

Thursday, May 2nd

10:00am – 11:00am

(Urban fantasy) A Man in a Woman’s World: Urban fantasy heroines aren’t the only ones kicking ass; their heroes are right by their sides. But how do you handle writing a male point of view when you’re a woman? Come talk with this panel of authoresses about getting inside the heads of the opposite sex. We’ll discuss how to decide on narration style, how to (gasp!) handle sex and romance, and — most importantly — how to make it all believable.

Captain: Richelle Mead. Moderator: Nicole Peeler. Panelists: Jeaniene Frost, Jackie Kessler (a.k.a. Jackie Morse Kessler, Caitlin Kittredge, and K.A. Stewart.

Location: Mezzanine Level. Room: Empire A

11:15am – 12:15am

(New Adult) Coming of Age: New Adult Fiction. Remember frat parties? Your crappy first apartment — and your hot neighbor? Those were some drama-filled years. Yet publishing wisdom was, don’t write a book set in college or in the years just after, no one will buy it. But thanks to an ever-expanding young adult market and the self-publishing revolution, there’s a hot new genre: New Adult. Set in those drama-filled college and post-college years, New Adult  stars protagonists ages 18 to 25. Want to break into this hot new market? Come hear from these bestelling, New Adult authors. How hot is too hot? Which publishers are buying? What are the boundaries to breaking in? We’ll tell all.

Moderator: Elissa Petruzzi. Panelists: Jennifer L. Armentrout, Cora Carmack, Jeaniene Frost and Molly McAdams.

Location:  Mezzanine Level. Room:  Chouteau A

1:30pm – 2:30pm

(Paranormal) Fated To Be Mated or Catch Me If You Can: Writing believable, passionate couples set in paranormal worlds where the normal dating rules don’t always apply (or do they?).

Captain: Jeaniene Frost. Panelists: Kerrelyn Sparks, Yasmine Galenorn, Alma Katsu and Lara Adrian.

Location:  Mezzanine Level. Room:  Empire A

Friday, May 3rd

10:00am – 11:00am

(Paranormal) The Long Kiss Goodnight: Benefits, drawbacks, and how-to’s of writing a recurring hero/heroine series in paranormal romance where the happily-ever-after doesn’t come in the first book.

Captain: Jeaniene Frost. Panelists: Pamela Palmer, Molly Harper, Rachel Vincent, Ilona Andrews.

Location:  Mezzanine Level. Room:  Empire A

1:00 – 2:30pm

6:00pm – 7:30pm

Location: Lobby Level. Room:  Gillham Hall

Saturday, May 4th

Let me start off by saying that I Love your books and I reread them all the time. I am only writing this now because I love them so much that I want them to not have as many flaws….such as in One Grave At A Time on page 163 , Denise answers something that Fabian says and also listens to everything that him and Elizabeth says. She is not suppose to be able to see or hear them, and goes back to not hearing and seeing in the short story in A Bite Before Christmas. I guess it is to late to fix this but I do question your editors. Please be aware that this criticism comes from a place of love. I am and always will be a loyal fan eagerly awaiting your next novel.
