Up From The Grave is out in the wild!

January 28, 2014 by Jeaniene Frost 45 Comments

Whether you read in paper, ebook, or audio, Cat and Bones’s final adventure in Up From The Grave is now available. If you like to “try before you buy” the first 20% is available to read here. If you want a signed copy and you have a BooksAMillion near you, you’re in luck because I signed their entire stock. No BooksAMillion nearby? I’ll be on the road as of tomorrow, visiting several book stores and signing copies. Some of those stores will ship orders nationwide, but if you’re in any of these cities, I hope you can come out! Here’s where I’ll be, and for every store except Malaprops, author Pamela Palmer will be my tour partner as she celebrates the release of Wulfe Untamed.

January 29th Malaprops Book Store in Asheville, NC  at 7pm

January 30th: Barnes and Noble in Cary, NC  at 7pm

January 31st: Laurelwood Books in Memphis, TN at 6:30pm

February 1st: Joseph Beth Book in Lexington, KY at 7pm

February 2nd: Books and Co. in Dayton, OH at 2pm

February 4th: Barnes and Noble in Homestead, PA at 7pm

February 15th: Turn The Page book store in Boonsboro, MD at 12pm. Group author signing includes Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Sylvia Day, Jaci Burton, Jeaniene Frost, Pamela Palmer, Stephanie Draven, and more.

Thanks again to all the readers who’ve followed Cat and Bones from their first meeting all the way to their final goodbye in Up From The Grave. I hope you enjoyed your journey with them as much as I enjoyed writing about them :).

I’m on chapter 12/13… And can’t help but cringe in the back of my mind that this will end(sort of like when I finished Harry Potter-yes a obviously different feel) but none-the less..heartbroken for days when it ended;) I’ve read all novellas & books & have had many friends read what you have written. So I will be indeed heartbroken too-even if it sounds silly, because I’ve truly loved your story telling & thank you for gifting this

I seriously wish I had a Books a Million near me! There’s only 4 in my whole state, however! Is there another way to get a signed copy? There’s no tour stops in my state either! 🙁

Congrats on your newest release! I wish it great success! Not like you’ll need it!

Just finished reading up from the grave. Ive been salivating for over a year to read it. I’ve been a night undress junkie since halfway to the grave. My inner greedy child would like to throw a fit at the series end, but the adult, more rational part of me is absolutely and thoroughly pleased with how you wrapped up their story. Props Mrs. Frost !!! And thank you. Happy typing. Your junkies await.

I finished reading it last night. Loved it. And like everyone else I’m sad to see the end. I hope you at least write one with Katie’s story so we can all see how they fair in the future. For now looking forward to Vlad’s story. Thank you for a wonderful series Ms. Frost!

Love Up From the Grave! I too hope to get updates of Cat, Bones, and others (do not want any spoilers here) in the spin off series. I do have a question, like with Vlads story, will the other stories be trilogies as well? I surely hope so! I like so many others would love to see Ian meet his match. I would have to say that Ian is my favorite supporting character in this series and one that feels incomplete. Regardless, thank you Jeaniene for the many hours of escape you have provided me and I hope many more to come.

If I would as in charge of setting up your tour route, I’d put you in the deep south during winter releases and more northern states in the Spring or Fall. Be safe and have fun.

I cried! I discovered your Cat & Bones stories this past September (2013), starting with Vlad’s story. Who knew that first book would open a whole new world of intrigue with your paranormal series. Like your other readers, I too wish Cat and Bones story would never end. I envision yearly updates for the next 20 years or so, and what fun it would be to grow older while reading about characters we all so love and adore (grin). I can’t wait for Vlad and Leila’s 3rd book. I hope Ian get’s a trilogy too, and like your other fans, I hope we get to hear more of Katie’s story. I would love Cat and Bones to have major roles in some of your spin offs too…yes, I am a bit greedy! lol. Kudos to you for creating a story with such lively characters, romance and true love and that never ending edge of danger and intrigue! Thank you!

The book implies that the father is Tate…even though there are more options and even better options. He even sails off into the sunset with them. He finally got what he wanted…..a tie to Cat. Sorry, but for as much as I truly love these books….I find myself annoyed by Tate in everything he does and says. He punched Mencheres and no one said anything to him. He should have been staked.

    Jeaniene,

Well, I have been a devoted Cat and Bones fan for years. I got the book via Kindle and forced myself to take several days to read it…I made it two days. I wanted to throw my Kindle a few times..I laughed, I cried, I was angry and sad but I loved it all. This is one of those series that made you feel like you almost knew the people. It feels like the loss of friends knowing a full book with Cat and Bones won’t be on the horizon any longer. I am looking forward to snippets (hopefully…:))from time to time though and of course, the third Vlad and Leila book. It was truly an amazing ride and you have a very loyal fan!

    Truly…thank you.

I’ve been reading your books from the very beginning, I’ve stayed up countless night reading Cat’s and Bones’s story the day they just came out and rereading just to pass the time. I feel like i know them and that they are a part of my life and one day I’m going to turn around and the entire night huntress cast is going to be cracking jokes and arguing in my living room. Reading Up From The Grave I cried the whole way knowing this was the end. I laughed, I cried, I waned to just leap in and strangle everyone or tease them in their cute little moments. I have so many questions to ask about what happened after, How long they stayed in hiding?, how long did they live?, how is their new family relationship developing? Will we ever see them again?, I knew it was high time Cat and Bones finally got the peace hey deserved but for a master vampire we all know it won’t last forever, what then? I can’t wait to read your up coming releases and I can only hope to see them again in the future. You have opened a door to a world of endless possibilities that no force will ever be able to shut. I truly hope to see them in the future, but not just soon, further on when they truly are at peace, older, wiser master vamps. After all a master vamps work is never done especially with the red reaper by his side. Thank You Frost
oh and is it me or did anyone else realize you gave them names that were deprived from the same origin meaning Purity?

I’ve loved Cat and Bones since the beginning and this final book was the icing on the cake. I laughed, cried-a lot and felt I was saying goodbye to members of my family. I hope we get to see glimpses of how their life is progressing in other books.

Discovered Jeaniene Frosts books not too long ago -actually read Once Burned first – then loved the books so much decided to read all the books in the night huntress series. Loved all the books & could read them over & over – Just recently finished Up From the Grave & loved that as well however was anyone else wondering why Vlad was not included in the last scene? He was the only one missing – made me sad especially since he & Cat had a special friendship

        Hi Chrissy,

Vlad wasn’t in the final scene because the timeline for UFTG and Twice Tempted ran concurrently, so he was too busy with the climax of TT to bid Cat farewell with everyone else. He’ll still be one of the few people who really knows what’s going on, however, because of his friendship with her.

Hope the explains things a little. Take care!

Hi Mary, had to edit your comment as this was a post talking about why I ended the series at book seven and I didn’t want readers to be inadvertently spoiled on that ending by some of the things you brought up in your comment. That said, I respect your opinion on the plot element that you are unhappy with, however, I wrote the end as I have envisioned it for years. Some readers will like it and some won’t, which is what happens with every book. Thanks for taking the time to write me.

You’re right and I apologize for the spoiler. I however find that for some strange reason have become quite emotional in my views about Tate, Cat and Bones and will invision Dave in that role. I realize that these are your characters and have invisioned them a certain way, however I hope you aren’t offended that I have invisioned a different ending. It is a testament to your writing and my love of the world you created. I really do love Bones and Cat and am sad to see it end. I see more books about them but wouldn’t want it to be like the Anita Blake series. Maybe sometimes to much of a good thing is just to much. Good luck with your new series and I look forward to the rest of Vlad and the NHW series.

    Hi Jeaniene,
I just finished the book and I loved it. I hated the idea that it was the last in the series because there’s so much I want to see now… And I’ll always hope that you get the inspiration to write something else… maybe about Katie or Ian…but I was really happy with the ending Cat and Bones got. I loved it! I’m not sure why Tate had to be there at the end… I’m not really a fan of his but you know best… for me it kind of felt like he was intruding but that just might be because I don’t really like him…
I’m trying not to say anything revealing in this comment and I’ll rant more about it in my review but I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am for these amazing books. This series has become one of my all times favorites and I still go back to book one from time to time and re-read everything. I’m sad to see it all end but I’m really happy for Cat and Bones and I’m looking forward to see what else you have for us, your loyal fans.
Thank you for writing this amazing series!
