List news, more travel, and a sad goodbye

February 10, 2015 by Jeaniene Frost 15 Comments

Small BBFFirst, a huge thank-you to you, readers! Because of your support, Bound By Flames, Night Prince book three, rocked the bestseller lists in its first week out, hitting at:

#6 New York Times mass market fiction, #9 New York Times ebook fiction, #10 New York Times Print & Ebook combined, #12 USA Today, #6 Wall Street Journal ebook, #10 Wall Street Journal combined fiction, #34 Amazon general ebook fiction, and #24 Publishers Weekly mass market fiction.

I am tremendously awed and humbled by the above. Vlad, the arrogant vampire, would of course think that he deserved all of it ;). So, you get big, thankful smooches from me, an electric high-five from Leila and a fiery hug from Vlad for showing Bound By Flames all the love during its debut week. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, you can order from  Amazon, Barnes&Noble,BooksAMillion, Malaprops, Powells, Indiebound, iBooks, Audible.com,Downpour or your favorite book store.

Malaprops picAs I mentioned in my previous post, I traveled for BBF’s release. First stop was Malaprops Book Store in Asheville, NC. This store usually hosts my releases and I had a wonderful time as always. Thanks to all the brave readers who ventured out on a frigid January evening to celebrate the release with me! Here’s a photo from that night, courtesy of Kim at Paranormally Yours Twitter feed. You may notice that I look a little different in these pics than in my “official” author picture. Since then, I’ve cut my hair, changed the color back to red and maybe gained a pound or two *wink*. The hair color and cut I’m keeping; the pounds I’d like to lose. Ah, carbs. I love you with a mad, reckless love, as my hips can attest.

Next up was Avon Book’s KissCon in Saratoga, FL. This was a multi-author event and it was more than a signing. Readers who attended were treated to an hour of wine, treats and mingling, then a panel with trivia question and giveaways, and finally, the group signing. I’ll come right out and say that I like group events more than single-author ones. For one, it’s more fun for me to have someone else (or several someones) to talk about books with, and two, I think readers get a lot more out of hearing and meeting many authors versus just one. I know I learn a lot from these group discussions – like Julia Quinn announcing the second-most-common motorcycle injury…OUCH! – and I assume that readers do, too. Here are some pics from that event.

KissCon2My next stop to celebrate Bound By Flames’ release will be ApollyCon in Philadelphia, PA on the 28th. This is another multi-author event, and check out the lineup!

Jennifer L. Armentrout , Mary Ting , Tiffany King , Kristen Proby , Mary Lindsey , Susan Dennard , Sophie Jordan , Katie McGarry , Chelsea M. Cameron , Page Morgan , Cora Carmack , Jay Crownover , Kristi Cook , Amalie Howard , Rachel Harris , Wendy Higgins , Jeaniene Frost , Laura Kaye , Sarah J. Maas , Jamie McGuire , Megan Erickson , Rachel Hollis , Ann Marie Frohoff , Katee Robert ,Tessa Bailey , Jen McLaughlin , Alexandra Bracken , Tina Reber , Jamie Shaw , Riley Edgewood , Cristin Terrill and Elizabeth Briggs.
Tickets for the VIP event and the Party are sold out, but a few tickets to the group signing (free of charge but ticket required) are still available, so be sure to get yours here if you want to come out. Hope to see some of you there!
.
Finally, on a sad, personal note, I also traveled to Memphis to pay my last respects to my great-uncle, Bob Colegrove, who died at the age of 90. He and my Aunt Dottie were married for over 68 years, which, as I said on Twitter, is about as close to a happily-ever-after as reality allows. I had dedicated Bound By Flames to my aunt and uncle, but he died before he could see that. My Uncle Bob had been one of my biggest fans, which was a testament to his love for me because steamy paranormal romance was not his genre of choice. Since his death, my Aunt Dottie has reminded me of what strong heroines are made of, because while her heart is broken, her spirit is not. Here is picture from the last time we were all together. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob. You will be greatly missed.

Deepest sympathies to you ,your family and Aunt Dottie. It is so hard to lose beloved family members, no matter the age nor circumstance. Celebrate the 68 years of beloved matrimony, a remarkable achievement and the years you were able to spend with them.

Love, love Vlad but I miss Cat and Bones. Maybe they will return in the future. So sorry to hear about your Uncle Bob. When I saw “sad goodbye” it scared the crap out of me. My first thought was that (G-d forbid) your Dad was gone. Since the last scare with your Dad I think about him often and wish him well.
