Updates

January 11, 2016 by Jeaniene Frost 21 Comments

As some of you who follow me on Facebook or Twitter know, my mother died unexpectedly right before New Year’s Eve. For everyone who left a supportive comment and/or their condolences, thank you. They meant a lot to me. Over the past two weeks, I’ve been reminded of the last line from the poem Footprints: “it was then that I carried you.” I know that me and my family have been carried through this sorrowful time, and we are grateful to God for that.

I left town to attend the funeral and make other arrangements, so I’ve been away until last night. Because of this, the contest winners from two weeks ago didn’t get their books. My apologies for that, and the books will be mailed out this week. I’m also behind on emails and other messages sent through my social media accounts, so apologies for that as well. I will try to get caught up this week.

I’m closing this post with a picture of my parents from several years ago. At the time, they both worked for the same hospital. When the holidays came around, they volunteered to play Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus to entertain young patients and other children at hospital-sponsored events. My mother and father were together for a total of fifty years (including dating), and if my dad and the rest of our family would’ve had our way, they would’ve been together for another fifty.

Oh my gosh. I didn’t see this until tonight. I’m so so sorry to hear about your mother. I love the photo of your mom and dad playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus. I know what it is like to lose a parent. Just remember, she will never be far from you as long as you carry her in your heart. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. 🙂

I lost my Mom a number of years ago and I know how much it hurts, but it is the beautiful memories of our loved ones that keeps them alive in our hearts. They may be gone from our vision but they are never gone from our hearts. The love and values they gave us stay with you forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you

It is never easy to lose a parent and though it takes time to heal, things will get better. Don’t worry about anyone else and take all the time you need to back to the swing of things.

So sorry! I lost my mum in July and the pain is like nothing I’ve ever known. It’s a process that changes you irrevocably and it takes time to figure out who you are again after losing someone so vital to your being. Lots of love and do what feels right for you.

We are but temporarily in this world. What good we can make, let it be in love, joy and peace. Blessed are those that have been touch by your parent’s kindness. May your sorrows turn to joy by knowing that your mother was much loved by those she touched.
