May 27, 2019 by Jeaniene Frost 1 Comment

Huge sale alert! I don’t know if this is a flash deal or a mistake, but either way, grab it while you can because SHADES OF WICKED, Night Rebel book one featuring Ian and Veritas, is only $1.99 in ebook right now! Get yours: Amazon, B&N, Apple Books, Kobo

From the back cover:

The Rule Breaker

Master vampire Ian is unrepentant, shameless…and every shade of wicked. He’s made one too many enemies in his two centuries of existence, including Dagon, a demon who now lays claim to his soul. Ian’s only chance to escape Dagon is to join forces with a Law Guardian, but he’s never been able to abide by the rules for long.

The Law Maker

Veritas’ normal role is police, judge and jury to reprobates like Ian. But she has her own ax to grind with Dagon, so if she can use Ian as bait…well, all’s fair in law and war. As they scour supernatural hotspots to perfect their trap, Veritas soon realizes Ian’s devil-may-care, roguish image hides something much more powerful. And Ian discovers that Veritas has shocking secrets of her own. As they’re drawn to each other with a passion as intense as their peril, either love or justice will prevail. But each will have devastating consequences.

    Hi,
First of all, I love your novels and the Night Huntress universe and I listened to every one of them on Audible in about 3 weeks and now than I’ve finished, I’m already listening to them again. Thank you for your work. I love your humour, your Sci-fi references and the constant reminder that whatever happened to them, your characters are always strong enough to fight for what they believe and for who they love. And I love the shameless sex scenes of course. 😉
This was the latest news on your blog about Shades of Wicked and since I wanted to ask you a question about it, I’m asking it here. I hope you will not take my blunt criticism badly : I’m French and this kind of behavior is in my blood and my culture. 😅
Reading Shades of Wicked (no very big spoilers ahead), I was a bit disappointed by the unrealistic balance of power between Ian and Veritas. Veritas is as old as, if not older than, Mencheres and in the others novels she is respected and feared by about everyone even though she looks like a prom queen. In this book, Veritas appears weaker and she even looses a fight against Ian who is barely over 200 years old ! She is about 4300 years his elder and she looses because he knows a bit of magic ?! Why did you do that ? When Ian became that powerful ?
I can forgive that Ian can have mastered an incredible talent for magic, learned about every languages possible and really is a fierce fighter but he still lost a fight (to the death) against Cat when she was still only half-vampire. Even though he underestimated her thinking she was human, how can he now be so much stronger than a 4500 years old vampire ?!
Every other females characters you wrote was stronger than they believed themselves to be but Veritas should know she is a very strong vampire. I felt like you put her below Ian on the vampire power scale and I wanted to know why ?

SPOILER AHEAD, don’t read if you haven’t read the book !
Even with her other nature caged, as a very old vampire, she should be a lot more powerful than Ian…
