I got back from Dragon Con last week, and as usual, a great time was had. I loved seeing all the readers who came to my panels and signings. I also got to catch up with BFF Ilona Andrews who was also there, and I was honored to accept an award on Charlaine Harris‘ behalf for her novel, ALL THE DEAD SHALL WEEP, winning “best of” in the Alternate History category (Yay, Charlaine!)
I also got to see so much amazing cosplay. If you follow me on Insta, Threads, or FB, you’ll see some of the videos I posted. WordPress wasn’t cooperating, so I can’t post those videos here, but if you’re a World of Warcraft fan like my husband, you might appreciate the below pic. Apparently, this person was dressed in a very old-school World of Warcraft costume, and my husband stopped them on the street so I could get a pic of it:
And, right before I left for Dragon Con, I FINALLY finished the book I’d been working on. It’s been a while since I wrote a new world from the ground-up, and I can’t wait to share all the details with you. If you missed me talking about it before, this is the first book in a new series set in a brand-new fantasy world. I’ll be able to spill all the beans soon, but for now, that’s all I can say.
Finally, this the collage that I used for my new social media cards:
Since I’m not the most tech-savvy, I just pulled the books off my shelves and haphazardly arranged them on my office floor. Some days, I can’t believe that I actually wrote all these! I wanted to be an author since I was 12, but it took me until I was 30 to finish my first novel. Even then, I had no expectations that it would ever get published, let alone launch its own series as well as several spin-off series. I’m still amazed that being an author is my actual job today! I also can’t wait to add the new book that I just finished to this pile, and then of course, more books after that, too.
Oh, and if you’re one of the people saying, “I didn’t know you’d be in Atlanta for Dragon Con!” then please sign up for my newsletter HERE. Everyone’s busy, so it’s easy to not check an author’s blog or socials and thus miss out on things like that. If you’re on my newsletter, though, I’ll send reminders right to you to keep you updated on all my appearances, plus new releases, special contests, sneak peeks on books, and more. Again, the link to sign up for my newsletter is HERE.
